Dans moins de 2 mois, Safari et moi seront déjà installés à Hoboken, New Jersey (la ville où nous avons décidé de vivre) et mon amoureux nous y rejoindra quelques jours plus tard.

Comment je me sens ?

Stressée, voire angoissée
Excitée
Débordée
Mais surtout j’ai hâte d’y être.

Ces derniers mois j’ai mis un point d’honneur à voir mes amis « parisiens » au maximum, comme pour recharger mes batteries avant de les quitter. Alors pour le moment je ne me sens pas triste.

Ayant un passé de gestion de projets cela fait bien longtemps que j’ai commencé à lister tout ce qui m’est passé par la tête avec une date à laquelle la tâche doit être finie. Mais voilà je fais face à 2 problèmes :
*Trop d’informations tue l’information : je me retrouve noyée avec toutes ces choses à faire
*Je n’ai aucune motivation pour faire toutes ces tâches toute seule ! Et oui, comme chaque été, mon amoureux travaille tous les weekends et je dois faire face.

Mais le temps passe inexorablement et la liste des choses à faire s’allongent alors il faudra bien que je me motive.

Au programme :
Le tri des affaires : ce qu’on vend, ce qu’on jette, ce qu’on donne, ce qu’on emporte à NY, et ce qu’on laisse à nos familles… Je vous cache pas qu’à ce stade j’ai surtout envie de faire une ou deux valises et de jeter tout le reste.

Et puis il y a toutes les démarches :
*prévenir les impôts de notre départ pour qu’ils soldent tout ce qu’on leur doit avant de partir (ahhhhhhh mes yeux pleurent du sang rien que d’y penser)
*fermer les comptes épargne et envoyer un maximum de liquidités aux US (parce qu’au début on sera ric rac niveau budget)
*poser le préavis de notre appartement
*constituer un dossier solide pour commencer à chercher un appartement là bas
*refaire mon CV à l’américaine et commencer à postuler
*souscrire à une assurance santé hors de prix
… et j’en passe !

Et puis le pompon (mais lui il est trop mignon), c’est gérer le déménagement et l’immigration de notre brave Safari ! Procédures vétérinaires, vaccins, achat d’une caisse de transport agréé pour la soute, achat de sa place en soute… Le pauvre s’apprête à faire son 10e déménagement en 13 ans et son 2e à NY !

In less than 3 months Safari and I will already be in Hoboken, New Jersey (the city where we decided to establish our new home) and my love will join us a few days later.

How do I feel?
Stressed out, even anxious
Excited
Overwhelmed
But I can’t wait to be there already.

These past months I made sure I spent as much time as possible with my friends here as if they will charge my batteries before I go. So for now I don’t feel sad.

With my past as a Project Manager I have long started this to do list with a date at which each task must be completed. But I have 2 problems:
*Too much information kill information
*I have no willingness what so ever to work on these tasks alone. Cause like every summer, my love is working every weekend and I have to deal with moving on my own.

But time flies and the to do list grows. It’s time I face reality: I have to start moving my ***!!!

What I have to do?
Deal with our stuff and start listing what we will sell, what we will throw away, what we will donate, what we will take with us and what we will leave to our families… But to be honest, at this stage I dream about packing 1 or 2 suitcases and then throw away everything else.

Then, I have to deal with the paperwork:
*Inform the French tax return that we are leaving and therefore pay all of what we owe befre we leave (ahhhhhhh my eyes start crying blood at the thougt of the bill)
*Close all Savinsg account and wire transfer as much money as we can to the US (cause we’ll need it to start our new life there)
*Tell our landlord that we are leaving
*Build a strong application to start looking for an apartment over there
*Re-do my US resume and start applying for jobs
*Subscribe to Medicare
… And that’s far from being it!

And the cherry on the cake (it’s a sweet cherry though) is to organize Safari’s departure and immigration: vet procedures, vaccines, buying a travel case for the plane, and a ticket for his trip. The poor thing is about to do his 10th move in 13 years, including 2 in NY.
He is so stressed out (see photo above)

Got to go now! I need to start preparing.
